New Chronicles 9/24 -- Number 100!

  • This week we celebrate our one-hundredth chronicle. As part of our celebration, Katerei and Cache22 have worked together to bring us our longest chronicle ever. In fact, it's so big that it can't even fit into one submission(This discovery is the reason that it's a day late). It is entitled The Hand of Fate. Due to its stupendous length, I haven't had time to fully read it yet, but if the past is any indication, we're all in for a treat. You can read the first part, Katerei's, (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/newsdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=52&forum;=*Cythera+Chronicles&DaysPrune;=25&article;=000104&startpoint;=")here(/url). When you're done reading that, Cache's part is (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/newsdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=52&forum;=*Cythera+Chronicles&DaysPrune;=25&article;=000103&startpoint;=")here(/url). Thank you, Katerei and Cache.

While Cache and Katerei no doubt put in the most time and effort for this celebration, I also have a contribution. I have prepared statistics on all chronicles that have been released to date. They are located on my site (url="http://"http://www.macclassics.com/cythera/chronrel.htm")here(/url). In addition, from that data, I have been able to derive statistics about our chronicle authors, located (url="http://"http://www.macclassics.com/cythera/author.htm")here(/url). With so many chronicles to handle(100, to be exact), I may have made some errors inputting data on the chronicles. If you find any errors, please let me know.

  • That is absurdly huge. The whole think needed to be broken up into about 3 parts.
I think a 5000 word limit on chron parts - the story itself could be unlimited size, but each part needs to be a reasonible length. I don't want to read a novelella on a computer screen, thank you.

Having finshed cache's part fo the story, I think it was very good - kept me on the edge of my seat. But it was still a touch too long.

  • It IS absurdly huge, and that's sort of the point! It is our hundredth(and 101st) chronicle, after all. We wanted to have something that would really set it apart from the others in celebration. Sure, we could have split it into seven parts(which is how many we'd use if we had a 5000 word limit), but it just wouldn't carry the same force. Let's hope for another hundred chronicles in the future!

That was the whole point; in fact, it was the only instruction we were given - that it was to be the longest chronicle ever. Our decisions were limited to using completely new characters that would only exist for that story, thus setting it apart from anything else either of us have written or will write in the future.

You're going to choke on your drink if we don't hear more of you soon. ;)

Good job guys on the chron, I don't have the time to read it just yet, but that's why weekends were invented.

Slayer - as I said, I guess I'm not the only one with too much spare time.

Are you kidding? I didn't have enough flipping spare time!

And if your spare time wasn't flipping?

Then it was spent writing. And honestly, I spent very little time flipping, which means a lot went into writing.

  • I just finished reading the whole chronicle. Both of you really went above and beyond what any of us could have expected. Keep up the excellent work!

  • re-enter: the fox

Will read that in a bit. Congrats on it btw, you probably worked real hard. As for me, I would like to try something. Tyrant's Ring is a dead TS that never ended. If its alright with the people on the boards, I would like to finish it, at least from my end of it, in a chronicle. My past chron ideas are still floating around in my head, but ive been unable to put it down just yet. So, whats the word, can I take that TS and form it into a chronicle? If so, lock that topic so nobody can post, therefore messing up my ending to it. Thanks.

  • That's up to Mr. Somebody, it's his TS. It'd be fine by me, though, I have no ideas for it at this point.

Assuming that Mr. Somebody has no objections, I would have no problems with that. In fact, I whole-heartedly encourage it! Considering that all of your posts in that topic were chronicle length and quality, it should turn out very well.

  • Well, ive a few ideas to build upon and should come back from this weekend with a base story. Then ill get to work building it up, making details and extendable ideas. Of course, it still depends on mr somebody.

  • I was sure to read it, but would also like it if slayer could post to it and lock it, so that it cant be dredged up or messed with.

  • Well, I am about to submit Silent Dawn Chapter 2, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you liked the first chapters leadup. Although, I have to admit something. The Hand of Fate scared me that was a scary story. Silent Dawn 2 also scares me. Call me a whimp if you like, I am, but I can tell you: I did not write Silent Dawn 2 in my right mind. With that said, look for it soon!
