Take the sulfur and grind it up. Put it in some earthen vessel and add Sal Petre and some fine charcol, according to a ratio of five parts sal petre to one part each of charcoal and sulfur. Mositen the mixture until damp, kneed and mix very well. Allow to dry. DON'T DRY WITH A FIRE. That is very important! Just trust me.

Just wait a day or so. It's good to combine this step with the one below.

Go to the blacksmith in any of the towns. Tell him 'tube'. He'll tell you that he'd be happy to forge a tube for you for twenty olbi. Give him the money and come back the next day to get your tube.

While you're waiting for the tube, go to the sea cave with the crabs. One of the skeletons - I'm not sure which one - should yeild a 'strange broken machine', (NOT the 'strange device'), which is broken.

When you get the tube from the blacksmith, use it on the 'strange broken machine'. It will tell you that you 'replaced the rusted tube on the strange machine' with your new tube.

Put some of the mixture - each batch will make enough to do this thirty times - into the fixed machine. Put in a sling stone. Then, equip it. It can be used as a very effective ranged weapon, it will fell most creatures with a single hit.

Oh, you can't get the saltpetre as you should be able to becuase fetch dosen't work - but you can get some by hunting around the farm for goat dung, and putting it in a big pile. Cover it in vegitable matter - seaweed will serve - and water occasionaly with stale lant. (That from a wolflizard will work fastest.)
After about ten waterings, it will produce some sal petre, which i think really should also show up in any cave with many animals.
Charcoal can be found in burt out fires. Gind it up as with the sulfur, in a mortar and pestle.

Let us know if you manage it. 😄
(These instructions are also viable if you have the acute misfortune of being stranded in the dark ages, as was the poor man in the sea cave, who didn't know how to make ammo.

          Oh, about the lant -
It needs to be STALE, fresh won't work.
Empty out the vats in the vineyard with the bad wine, they'll serve very well for the aging. Put the um, raw product, in buckets and carry them to the vats. It's funny if you have Aetheon in your party and make him carry it. It needs to age for two weeks, easily the longest part of the process.

Is this really possible? I know that if it isn't then I'm gullible, but it sounds like a lot of fun and a good weapon.

It may be possible; I have never personally tried this.

But, a far more common use for those things is to learn Alchemy, and make potions out of them. Ruby makes Blacksmiths Friend potion, Sulphur makes Healing potion, and I forget what Diamonds make, but you can also use peppermint, spiderwebs, beans, and, er, I forget the rest.
