  • (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/guidelines.html")Read the guidelines for the boards.(/url)
They aren't very hard to find and should help explain the karma system.

  • how can you become an adminestrator(i dont know how to spell it)

    ------------------

  • By the time you'd be a valid candidate, you'd already know ;)

    ------------------
    (~%) ssh localhost
The authenticity of host 'localhost (127.0.0.1)' can't be established.
    RSA key fingerprint is 93:33:b4:fc:b8:03:b4:45:15:31:99:1a:a3:1f:a5:ac.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?

  • To become an Administrator, you pretty much have to work for Ambrosia and be among the most trusted of employees. To become a moderator, you need an excellent reputation on the web boards and you also need to be in the right place at the right time.

  • It should be noted that "now" and "the Cythera Boards" (or Ares boards, for that matter) are probably not the right place and time to be if you're looking to be a mod.

  • Yep. Most mods are drafted from Just Chat or Banter & Brawl. Sometimes they're picked from whatever board they most frequent, but most of the time, if they don't make themselves known as a very responsible poster in one of those two places, odds are "the powers that be" won't notice them. Mods don't moderate all of the boards, just the ones they are assigned (administrators are the only ones with full powers everywhere).
I've heard it's actually quite a bit of work being a mod, especially on busy boards, because you have to read almost every post, or at least every topic thread, in order to keep users in line (or reward them for being good). There are other responsibilities, too, although not being a mod myself, I don't know for sure what they are.
Being a mod is a completely voluntary position - they are simply contacted and asked if they would like to have the responsibility. No compensation is offered, and none is given. You won't know if someone thinks you would be a good moderator until they contact you to offer you the job.
Moderator-hood is not without it's perks, though. They have karma-slapping and rewarding priviledges, many can lock topics, move topics to other boards, or change the title of topics. I think there are also some private message boards that only mods can access, and other boards that we can view, but only mods can post in. And they're often the first to know about upcoming stuff, and many are generally beta testers for new Ambrosia products.

No one can do that. Not even Andrew.
