Soooo...

  • Why you like Cythera

I was just curious as to the reasons people here like Cythera. I'll make a poll when I find the most common answers.

For me, it's the story, the fact that it's not a stupid RPG all focused on violence and with a really shallow story, and I guess things related to that. Those are just the main reasons though, I like it for pretty much all reasons really.

  • I don't think I'll ever be as comfortable with another RPG as I am with Cythera. That's surely my main reason. It may not be a very good reason, but there you go ^_^

  • The well executed story, the depth of the background, the way your mental picture of what's going on is built up by numerous subtle hints instead of bluntly spelled out, the numerous puzzles that are actually solvable by a reasonably savvy player (giving rise to that warm, fuzzy, 'I did it!' feeling.) About the only thing I actually had to resort to Slayer's Guide for was the locations of the Sapphire Books, and a couple of musical keys that don't seem to be given out anywhere in the game.

  • Ditto Buzzzzy.

I might like an RPG with other players to have less of a story-line, I don't know; but single-player CRPG, I definitely prefer a strong story.

  • Ditto cache.

The fact is has a deep story, unlike most RPGs, and also that it has such a lot of cool stuff like Fetch.

What cache said! Cythera pretty much introduced me to the world of fantasy RPGs. I can enjoy mindless shooters and action games, but role-playing games with puzzles, character development and a good storyline will always be my favorite as I love to immerse myself in that kind of world, developing a character. Everything in Cythera just works (well, save for Fetch, which works in it's own special way), with exciting characters, intriguing storyline and a beautiful world. The puzzles are great, and the warm, fuzzy feeling when you solve something is indeed present. Now if there only was a working editor for Cythera.. but I think we've been though that discussion more than a few times in the past ;)

  • I will play devil's advocate:
I hate Cythera, I hate it, it is too blody and a pointless myriad of puzzles. THe magis is implausable, the enegry is unrealistic- YOU CANNOT FIGHT FOR A WEEK WITHOUT SLEEP!!! the food is unreal (butter goes bad after being left out for five days.). I Hate this game, you cannot fight to near death, heal wounds and do mortal caomabt the next second!!! Cythera should be banned, removed, adn ostrasized, the gore and gush of blood is terrible, this land of fantasy is more mugginsed than any other game (from cribbage: to use "muggins" to steal pints). Whats more I am a god in this game, I cannot die... no seriousl yI walk around adn nothing hurts me, I am a god! THE plot is slow, the game is slow, the graphics are behind the times, catch up you lazy loafers- play some Civ. II, theres some stratgey fer' ya.
Jsut thought I would throw that out there (I really love the game,a dn want it to be made in "X", so as to be dual-core compatible), I am just tired of the blathering on of how good a game is (Well I guess I am in a forum to discuss said game)!

  • Cgends, you rock ^_^

I'm noticing most people answer that it's the story. To me, it is more the potential for stories. Shrugs

  • It's released by ASW, and I got addicted to it. 'nough said.

  • Hmm, I'd be hard-pressed to identify a single reason that I like Cythera. I guess the story, the play, and other such things...

  • Story seems to be the most common answer, or at least something related to story, and that's kind of what I expected. Newer games almost never have any real story, and the ones that do never get popular.
