Trying to get the Ratcatcher to join.

  • And real estate.

Hey guys I was just wondering how you get Aethon the ratcatcher to join your party in Cythera, I've tryed alot but just can't seem to get it to work. Are there other permanite characters that join your party besides Hector, Meagler, Timon, and Aethon? Also I was wondering how you actulay buy a house, I heard talk of it in Slayer's Guide but I was wondering if you can pay it off slowly or if you have to pay it all off at once. If it's a all or nothing deal then how do you carry around 10k oboli at once?

    Thanks,
    Jacks

    Spoiler

Talk to Halos about Comana. Follow direction from there.

You need two chests. Stick one chest inside the other and fill it with oboloi. Then move it to the outer chest. And so on.

  • I haven't seen you in a while, so welcome back! ^_^

Yup, you have to pay the 10k all at once before you get the key to the house. I think there's a page on Slayer's Guide called "How to carry more than you can lift" ^_^

And there's no other permanent followers besides the ones you mentioned :/

Regarding Halos, I think you need to speak to Ake or Propontis to get him to see you. He will only talk to you at certain times, unless you know haggling and persuasion.

    Spoiler

Actually, I think only one chest is needed, although I could be wrong or CC is referring to another method than the one I'm familiar with. I think the procedure is to first put the item in one chest (already in your inventory) and then move it from there into your inventory. In this way, you can carry more than your inventory normally allows.

  • Hmm I know how to see through your spoiler blocking, but call me stupid because I still can't seem to get Aethon. :( COuld I get a step by step? or is that to much trouble? Also is there anywhere that you can actulay fish?

Unfortunately, no. It needs deep water, and if there's any deep water on the map, it's someplace you can't reach. Maybe Glenn intended to implement boats or something, but but never got around to it.

I haven't played for a few months, but I think this might work.

    Spoiler

Have you cured the Plague in Catamarca?

If you have speak to Propontis (one of the men who was sick in that city) and ask him Halos. He'll suggest you seek out Halos, who is in Cademia.

I think he can be found there in the southwestern most building. You might have difficulty speaking to him, since he only talks to you late at night, unless you have haggling and persuasion.

I can't recall exactly how the conversation goes, but you need to say "Propontis" to him and he'll talk about politics. I think he might mention Aethon to you then.

If he does, go to Aethon and say "Halos." Then, you should be able to get him to join.

(Note: this is probably not organized very well. I haven't tried this in some time.)

  • Spoiler

I think you ask Aethon 'Join' afterward but I'm not sure.

  • Spoiler

Go to Halos and tell him "Propontis" and "kidnapping" respectively. Then tell Aethon "Halos" and "join" respectively again and without any quotes on any of these (obviously) and Aethon should join you and start a fight with Meleager.

  • Thanks guys I got it working, now I just have to get Meagler and Aethon to stop bickering. :p

  • I msut say, I thought boats were obviously lacking in the plot. I figured cata, would have some, and you could go out and fight the hydras(I might have my beasts wrong, but you all know the sea moster). Boats seemed lacking, especially since Alaric mentions coming from another land.

  • Meleager+Aethon always really annoyed me.

  • As I recall, there are no boats in Cythera because of the scylla; people are rather afraid of trying to go boating.
