    (continued frompart twenty-three)

Now separated from Grapper, Semius, and Randy, Hector and Amelia find themselves in the past of Cythera. For years, they try to find their lost friends, but they don't. However, in their years of searching, they grow closer and they have a daughter. They name her Chrysothemis. As she grows up, Hector and Amelia get old.
One day, as a young woman, Chrysothemis asks Hector, "Dad, what do you know about the elements?"
Hector thinks back to his time with Bellerophon. "Well, as you must know there are four of them. In Cythera these days, only earth and water are strong and neither walks the land anymore."
They talk about it more but the next day Chrysothemis disappears. Hector and Amelia can't find where she went. So they set out on another search. Hector remembers the conversation about the elements so they try different places tied to the elements: the metic ruins; caves; Land's End Volcano. On their way back from the volcano they go to Abydos to talk to the mages about the elements, but they find it flooding.
Hector sees Grapper and Semius in the water, so he jumps in and saves them. They're young, though. Then Grapper dives down into the water and opens up a drain and all four of them are sucked down into it. They wake up on a boat, and a giant rubber ducky approaches them. Grapper jumps on its back and flips the switch that turns the duck back into a wizard. Then the wizard offers them a choice of three doors.
"One of these doors will bring you closer to your goal, but two will take you to the goat universe instead. Which do you choose?" Semius (he's a dog again) barks twice and the wizard shows them that the goat universe is behind door number three. "Change your mind?" he asks.
The team confers again. They want to change but Amelia says, "No, we should stick with door number two!" so they do.
The wizard opens door number two.
