Coldstone movie screening

  • (reposted here, because I thought it might interest you folks)

I've taken two movies of a game being made with the Coldstone game engine. While these movies don't show off the Coldstone game editor itself, they do certainly show the kind of game that can be created with Coldstone.

Keep in mind that the graphics in these example movies are not final; even so, I think they are looking pretty nice, and give you a good idea of what Coldstone can do, and the kinds of games you can expect.

You can check out these movies on the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/news/upcoming/coldstone_betashots.html")Coldstone Betashots(/url) web page, or alternately, for the lazy, I've put the direct links here: (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/news/upcoming/images/cs_caves1.mov")movie1 (caves, 1.1mb)(/url) -- (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/news/upcoming/images/cs_town1.mov")movie2 (town, 1.7mb)(/url)

    Enjoy!

  • Looking good.

I'm impressed by the windmill animation - it hides and shows your character. The tiles don't seem to restrict graphics height, which is very good. Walking animations are pretty smooth, and overall graphics quality is excellent.

The main problem I saw was with the dirt tile in the caves - you can see how it repeats. It would be nice if you could make an area have random generation between a few tiles, to prevent this visual redundancy. Otherwise, it looks great.

    Good luck! :)

And so the problem remained; lots of people were mean, and most of them were miserable, even the ones with digital watches. Many were increasingly of the opinion that they had all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that the trees had been a bad move and that no one should ever have left the oceans. - Douglass Adams

  • Heh, really nice, but I'd have to agree with Talos. I also noticed what seemed to be the character walking through a solid wall in the town for a brief second...

  • I think that was him walking underneath an overhang.
