... about elfes. I know this is not exactly Cythera-related, but since at least a few of you have an elf here (Land King Hall - for story), I thought I could post this.
What's your view of elfes and their culture?------------------

Well... Elven culture varies widely from fantasy world to fantasy world, so I can't make a really good judgement. However, in "The Lord of the Rings", Elves rock. They are the most learned and happy people there.

Elves are really nice guys in some books or games, but in Discworld novels, they're evil crazy midget bastards who try to take over the world Just read Lords and Ladies by Terry Prattchet.

I like the elf because of it's good reflexes and long age. Also, they seem to be cheerful. I don't happen to like the pointy-eared thing though...

What's wrong about point-eared? I especially like that (together with cat-like eyes - see my character info). It's a difference (except that they are said to be very good-looking) which indicates that they are not just 'super-humans', who know and do everything better.

Anybody read Elven Star? I think its a good book, almost to that of the Lord of the Rings, and it portrays elves in a way I like to think. I don't like the way pointy ears look on a person, but I can compensate for that. Also, I believe elves to be taller than humans, with pale skin and obviously no facial hair.

Better: dextarity and agility and other feats as such, endurance, intelegence, beuty
Worse: strength, umm...I'm sure there's other things, I just can't think right now
Variations From Different Kinds: height, hair and skin coloring, demeanor, wisdom, habitatBasicly, although there are different kinds of elves, as has been noted above, they all have these fundamental differences from humans. Also, although they are all called elves, there exist in (almost) each world distinctive sets of elven groups, for example: Sun and Moon elves(also called gold and silver) in Faerun(forgotten realms); Eldar, Silvan, and Sindar are the ones discussed specificly in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy in Middle Earth; ect...
I wouldn't say that elves are better in every way than humans. I'd just say they gave up a little in some area's to gain so much more in others.
I won't even begin to talk about dark elves, the cursed Drow
