Sapphire Books and Mystical(?) Items

  • I have a lot more questions about Cythera than I could fit in the Topic and I will understand if the extra questions don't get answered.

I've found only six of the 10 Sapphire books, tho i can remember from an earlier game reaching the 7th Hall of Learning in the Magisterum. Where are the Sapphire Books of Beauty, Victory, Foundation and Mercy.
I wear Omen's ring but I haven't found anything towards whether if it helps or harms me(filthy Undine ;) ) What are its hidden properties?

I don't wear the odd helmets cuz they only block blows that would hit me, but from reading the topics, its sounds like they have some sort of magical protection. Do they have any special propeties?

There's passage blocked by a huge flow of lava, at Land's End. I can get there by taking the northern hole on the first floor of the volcano, tho i can see a piece of obsidian and what could be a passage. Is there a way past Deep Lava?

There's a secret passage(?) wall in left of the cave tunnel under The LandKing's Hall that i can't open(?). Has anyone opened it?

A hint: if you open the doors to the Void by the LandKing's Lab, open the world window all the way open and carefully move around, there's a set of drawers and a blue crystal ball on the wall left of the secret passage, left of the LandKing's lab. But, i can't get Fetch to work. Do i need to be a Mage, like you need to be a Thief to get shake down to work? You shouldn't need certain mindsets or skills to get certain magic spells to work so is there a new version with these changes?

Help with the first two questions is all i really want or expect an answer to, but I was hoping the other questions were linked to the first two.

  • The location of all sapphire books:

    1. Alaric has one in his quarters, behind the locked door.
    2. Go to the dorm room in the southwest corner of the top floor of Pnyx. The book is in the desk.
    3. Go to the castle in Catamarca. In the room north of the court, there is a bed. Search it.
    4. Go to Cademia. In the judge's castle there are some locked doors. The book is behind one of them. If you don't feel like bashing the doors down, the keys are in the dresser in the room east of the main hall.
    5. In the slums of Cademia, there is a room filled with mushrooms. In the room northwest of that is a secret door. Behind the secret door is a ladder down to an area with many levers and gates. Use the magic map to see what gates go up and down when the levers are flipped. The book is in the room protected by the golem.
    6. Go to Kosha. Sleep until sunset, then one more hour. Go to Itanos the judge's house. He should be in his study. Ask him about "sapphire."
    7. Go to Abydos, the ruined city. It's far south on the west coast of Cythera. In a certain room with a windowed door, there is a secret door. Behind the secret door is a ladder down. The book is guarded by a demon, so forget about getting this book if your character isn't very powerful.
    8. Get a shovel. A shovel can either be bought from the ratcatcher's guild(see Locks, or any other skill that involves joining the guild) or taken from the iron mine. If you get your shovel from the mine, make sure you take one that is actually inside the mine. Taking one from the camp is stealing. Along the east coast, north of Catamarca, there is some sand and loose dirt. Use the shovel to dig on the loose dirt.
    9. Get the mission Free Maayti. In the cave with all the seldane, one has the book. Just ask him about "sapphire."
    10. Complete Seek out Prusa. Go talk to Prusa. Go back to town to get some sleep. Talk to her again. Repeat as many times as necessary. Make sure to talk to her several times in a row, as she has a lot to say. She should give you the book after you talk to her for several days.

Copied from "Slayer's guide to Cythera", all credit to Slayer.

Omen's ring regenerates your health 3 times faster than usual so you can't die from poisoning.

Odd helmets are weak but protects against magical attacks. I recommend wearing one.

You don't need to be a rogue or mage to use certain spells. But I haven't opened the secret passage.

Welcome to the Cythera web board :)

You are the fattest thing I've ever seen...and I've been on safari!

  • The secret passage isn't really a secret passage, it is where you end up when you take one of the portals in the seldane city. That's why it shows up as a 'secret'.

Fetch doesn't work for anyone, it's a total bug (though very useful at times). The secret room was probably reachable at one time, but isn't now.

BTW, exactly (exactly) where is this secret room, I've never been able to find it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Thanx for help with the Sapphire books. I played with Omen's ring and found out it also cuts the cost to use your spells. A Triangle with a Plus, like the Conjurers Triangle with a bonus.

Opening the world window seems an unused technique here. Has anyone found the Ignae(or the Southern Pillar) in Eionius's cave? It'd be really cool if i was the only one.

I'm not sure what secret room you mean, there's a lever under a plant in Magpie's room thats opens a secret passage to the LandKing's sanctuary.

The blue crystalball: go to the LandKing's Lab, go to the room that connects to the Lab and the two secret passages. I guess it'd be the Kings meditation room, or the room where the King bonded with the Seldane. Open the northern doors, to the Ethereal Void. Open the world window as large as possible, the one with all the people in it and step into the Kings lab. As you go in, make sure you can see the void and that you keep checking the western edge of the world window, stay as far north in the lab as you go west and just at the edge of the world window, as you step on only spot where you could see this, you'll see the ball and cabinet just one step west, past where the western secret passage would be.

The volcano thing: enter the volcano, take either the northern or eastern passage and follow it to the end. Open the world window as much as possible again and look to northeast of your map as you walk on the shallow lava. You'll see its a river of lava rather than a lake, and to the NE, there's usually a piece of obsidian and maybe a dead end, but i can't see its end so i'm not sure.
