Did anyone ever find a way of getting into that wierd place next to the passage around LandKing hall with a corpse and some broomsticks in it? I'm so vexed because I've used up my green crystal ball now so I can't look in there any more, but I've definitely failed to find a way in. Any tricks?

yeah, even though I really like the puzzle solving aspect of this (I never actually played a game like this before in my life so I can't compare it to any of the others you're talking about, but I've a feeling I prefer the puzzles to the battles) I couldn't help but to feel a bit cheated by the big build up to some things which didn't really turn out to be worth much. Like getting the sapphire books for instance - you spend all this time getting them, thinking there MUST be something in these secret rooms that tells you what's going on, and if you're playing a non-magic user, you get up to the 8th degree hall and wonder why you bothered because there's nothing in any of them that you couldn't read elsewhere. Plus I really liked all the hints of political intriguing but they never really got carried through to a logical conclusion, though maybe that's too much to ask of a game
But these are all minor whinges - it's hellish addictive

but yeah, I felt a bit let-down at the end of the game - I was expecting a bit more chat & explanations, tying up of loose ends, and possibly a few parties etc, not just to be shoved off back to earth again. I think I even preferred the "evil alaric" version of the ending for dramatic value.

There is a copy of it in the Judge's house in Catamarca (Metopes I think his name is) and I'm fairly sure there's one in the library at LandKing Hall, and definitely one in the library at Pnyx. If you chat to Anisa about golems and Machaon she tells you about it.

In the book about Semius the golem hunter it says he goes out in the famed cloak of Herakles - that's the only reason I called the fur cloak that. Sorry, I didn't mean to cause any major confusion.

Does it ever become clear what is significant about the year 203? (You know, when you tell Alaric about his mother, he says, hmm I think 203 is important somehow.) And also, how come Atreus has the same ring as Tavara, and why does he blush and smile when you say 742 to him (which is also engraved on both rings) - has anyone found out?

no, they really do - the odd helmets I mean. I didn't trust them either, but they truly do stop magic against the wearer. They aren't very good for being beaten about the head though.
I've been waiting for Charax to find out about the earth polarity reagent for at least four days and I'm BORED. Is there something I should have done before he will tell me? I've looked at slayer's page and the only missions I haven't completed are cure alaric and wine contract, so I can't think what else it could be - any ideas?
also, in the Tyrant's tomb, how does one open the portcullis without magic? Or is that not possible?
and what exactly is a scrub - I have to say that it does sound faintly insulting to me!

I've scoured Eidoneus' caves and I can't find him - where's he hiding? Do I have to do something special to make him come out?
In the same building, is there a key to the dungeons downstairs? And is there anything in there except lots of undead etc? I tried attacking the doors but nothing happened.

Is there anything exciting in here - or essential? Because I am finding it next to impossible to get past the four demons, though I should dearly like to meet Tavara who presumably is also 900 years old or whatever, not to mention mad as a goose. Any tips as to how to fight four demons at once? I have cloak of herakles, sword of heroes, mystic armour & mystic helmet and have been bombing them but nothing seems to do the trick (at least not to all four before I am dead again)! Most dispiriting.
I'm not sure how far you've got so I don't want to spoil things for you, but it's in one of Machaon's workrooms in the Maze in Cademia. Did you want more detail than that?
