They're all rated the same: undefined. None of these will see carbonisation. The effort of turning a 9-and-under game into X is incredible, and the payoff is low. Just thank your lucky stars they made a Universal version of pop-pop.

RE: Two Jack's Glitch Pics
Marvellous, simply marvellous. That game was buggy as hell (and I tested it!), but the difference between Cythera and all other games is that every bug was amusing and screenshot-worthy. The walking, magic-casting half-bed will truly live as a legend.

RE: Insanity Test
Bleh, anything that asks me to stare at a picture for an amount of time can't be good news. I recall a little pic called "What's wrong with this picture?" God, that cleared out the cholesterol right quick.

RE: A bit of beta history...
Heh. And don't get me started on the evil invincible half-beds. Anyone remember that one, boys?
And don't ask me why I'm on the Cythera boards, I don't know either.

RE: Earth Elemental
Double aha!
So, in other words:
There's nothing more to be done? Everything has been seen? Alaric shall take care of everything else? Well, then...
How absolutely, utterly unsatisfying.
Ah: and Croax...I hate to criticize, but if your post isn't relevant to the topic at hand (ie mine), don't post.

RE: Earth Elemental
Aha!
So, what you're saying is that Charax (damn, almost said Croax :p) has no purpose in this game once you have reached this point?
And so, this leads to the obvious question: what now? Charax is worthless, I have been there done that, and I am left wondering how this wine thing progresses. Provide my next step, and nothing more. Thanks.

**Yes, I realize it's supposed to go screwy. And I finished the game months ago. Now I'm trying to go further into the plot by getting Charax to stop researching what went wrong.
In short: what triggers Charax to stop researching? How?

RE: Earth Elemental
Ah, now it is time for me to be straightforward. Let me respond to the past posting:
I have actually passed that. I didn't realize the Seldane were referred to as the Earth. It is not this mission I have trouble with, but the one immediately following it. Charax tries the distiller with the kelp, something goes screwy, and he starts inspecting it. Forever.
My REAL question is this: How to stop him from this and keep the mission going? Include all details -- there are always ignoramuses here (like me).

Earth Elemental
OK, I think all of you are in cahoots. Lord Andrew refuses to give me a straightforward answer, and so do many of you. Perhaps there is room for a strike three...
So, give it to me straight, no hints, just the facts, ma'am:
What is the Earth Elemental? Where is it to be found?
The purpose of this quest is to progress in Charax's research. I hear chatting with the Earth shall progress.

RE: Cythera Quibbles (SPOILERS)
Consider this: how challenging would a maze be if it were merely a hallway with no doors, except at the exit?
RPGs are mazes. There is only one correct path, but a million others that will take you into deeper waters.

I'm not actually this sick. I'd probably hid it in one of the pynx student's room.
**Hmmm...sounds like a mixture between Psycho and The Godfather.
I've never actually used a chest for anything productive. Just too plain heavy. I once carried kesh in it...then I realized what kesh was.

Apparently, more is needed.

() I talked to Mantinea. She continued on and on about the "mysterious ruffians."
() I talked to Halos.
(*) Various words were tried: Comana , murder , Matinea , Dryas , etc. Comana got me the farthest, but no hotwords from there.

RE: tavara's stronghold
How to get through, though? I understand these things come alive after you've killed them, which has always been a nightmarish thing for me, watching the dead come alive again. I can't keep killing these things! My old strategy was killing one thing at a time until I got to the vital cargo in the basement. Since these things come alive again, that doesn't work. :frown:
Ah yes, I've also tried running like hell. No go there either. :frown:

RE: why is Charax taking so long?
This is the only spot in which I have had serious trouble. People always give me this same vague answer. At least supplement me with this: is it a person, place, or thing (the earth reagent)?

RE: What good is Weaving, anyway?
About training for one weapon: bad idea. Edged weapons (eg, swords) do well on almost everything...and then you start trying to hack away skeletons, and it doesn't work. Train in at least three: sword, mace, and barehand. This does not count shield, which is almost a given.

RE: What do you want in future releases?
About the new genre of scenarios:
By amazing coincidence :), IMG (Inside Mac Games) asked a lot of questions that are exact duplicates of what some are asking, during an interview with Herr Andreas. Lessee if I can pull that up...
-------------
IMG: How flexible is the delver engine - could it be used for a sci-fi game?
Glenn: Depending on what you need, sure it could. It wouldn't support things like flying spaceships, but otherwise it should work. The underlying role-playing rules are fairly generic as well - there are three underlying stats, secondary stats like health and mana (which would probably be used as some sort of psi-power or something) and then a bunch of skills.
IMG: Can we expect to see more scenarios created using the Delver engine?
Glenn: Yes - I sure hope so, though probably done by others. I also plan on making new, more powerful engines (the sequel to Cythera requires some things that the engine currently doesn't do). There are other deviations using some of the core parts of the Delver engine that could also be done (off the top of my head, perhaps some sort of random dungeon exploration game - like the old Rogue/Hack/Moria/Angbad style games).
