    • RE: DnDing Cythera

I also like the look of the old, drawn game map. There's a b&w version on page 7 of the recent soundtrack liner notes which I had tried to make look more like a sketch. It didn't really come out any different than a de-saturated version of the original though.

How's the DnD campaign coming along? It's a really good idea. If the team stories are anything to go by, Cythera's scenario opens up stories in all kinds of directions.

    • RE: Ask About

Yeah, the problem I'm having with Redelv is that it won't run on recent Macs because of the GTK version. Redelv uses GTK 2, and GTK 3 deprecated a lot of calls, but it's the only version I've been able to get installed on my machine. Not sure why it's been so problematic. I tried to port some of Redelv to GTK 3, but it proved more involved than I could get into at the time. Anyways, that was the same issue with your laptop, BW. The linux laptop can run Redelv, but you'd have to work in an HFS volume to preserve the resource fork.

Regarding "Ask About," it's a useful game mechanic. I suppose gandreas put it in thinking it could provide helpful tips to the player, but it was underutilized in Cythera. The potion and weapon info is a good reference; it's just too bad he didn't get more responses written. My favorite example is asking Timon about a Seldane to be told "It looks like a Seldane." Nothing gets past him!

    • RE: Let's Play Cythera!

This is extremely entertaining, BW! I haven't watched them all yet, but I quite enjoy the commentary track with Shorty doing the narration. Did you end up using the built-in mic on the computer to record audio? Everything sounds good. The resolution is also perfect for readability.

I look forward to seeing more. :)

Off topic: it seems that I'll have to create a new account anytime I want to post. Both "The Wizard" and "Wizard" are locked and rejecting the password. My original had the password problem for a long time, but I think the new one needed to be confirmed by email to stay active... an email that was never sent. Such will be the fate of "wizard1" I'm sure. It's sad to see Ambrosia failing around us, but at least projects like this keep an interest in the games alive. Thanks, BW!
