Ish. You have to have the mage unlock spell to open the door. You were supposed to use your grimoire on the scroll that you found so that you could learn the spell. But fear not..you can still learn the spell at Pnyx. I just can't remember what level it was.

(recall that the pattern for that specific door was all white dots)... now, whenever I try to use my strange device, all dots stay white, and nothing responds when I press the buttons. it only works when I'm in Landking Hall, but when I leave.... it's broken again.

      Help?

That was a bug in one of the earlier releases. Make sure you have the latest. Which is... I don't know what it is. :) 1.04?

Yeah, I've done all that and everyone said I should find Halos in the two-tailed rat and he is never there.

      The two-tailed rat!! That's IT!! Thanks. :)

Any pointers on getting persuation? I haven't done anything with the ratcatchcers guild and haven't been able to get the guy that says "get off my yard" to tell me much even though I've figured out how to talk to him.

He tells you a story...you have to click on exactly the right word each time or you have to go back to the beginning. When you get a response that isn't negative, write it down. There is a certain order to the responses you have to make. If you want a spoiler, post again.

And have I lost out on anything important with not having talked with Demodocus? According to things I've picked up from this board he was supposed to able to help me with a musical lock issue, is that chance gone?

Nope. Demoducus eventually ends up in the home of his friend, Bryaxis. He'll end up staying there...pretty much. You can always ask him about "teach."

      **Sort of.

After asking about it several times I have not yet been successful in talking with Halos and I never found Demodocus (in Cademia). So I fire up Cythera after over a month of not playing, hoping I can still remember enough to play, and I talk to Bryaxis about Demodocus and he said he just left but was going to Kosha! And of course I stumble upon the fact that he is NOT in Kosha as was discussed months ago at the founding of the Cythera web board. Of course I didn't know what everyone was talking about then but I learned the hard way apparently.

I need some more direction. I am capable of figuring things out but I'm really just flailing my arms at this point. I hope I haven't screwed up my game by not talking to Demodocus.

I've been in the sewer several times and have absolutely NOTHING special after extensive searching of every square inch of wall and fighting back every ratlizard in existance and depoisoning Timon umpteen million times.

My "To Do" list contains "Find source of Kesh" "Ask Halos about Comana" "Sapphire books of wisdom" (I think I found around 5) "Cure Alaric" and "Negotiate Wine Contract" in short, a very small amount of stuff. Of course I've completed every other mission that I've been gived at this point. (Including all the Seldane ones, Free Maayti, etc.)"

I hope someone can give me some direction, I really am quite lost... Feel free to ask for more info about my game if you require it.

The problem is that often because ONE thing hasn't been accomplished yet, everything comes to a complete standstill. I would guess that your problems stem from Halos. You need to get him to talk to you. Hopefully that will trigger some of these other things. Have you tried hanging out at the Rat's Tail? (Or whatever the name of that inn is!) He's supposed to eat lunch there. I never could catch him there myself and was forced to get persuasion so that I could talk to him in his shop. Ask him about friends (He's going to want to know who sent you.) and Comana. Then make darn sure you've returned Stentor's net to him and had a nice conversation with him. Things should start moving along with that plot.

I agree. :) I did like this game and would recommend it if someone asked me...but boy, if there was something I could change about it, it would be all the dangling threads left at the end of the game. It was a let down!!!

**Yes, I realize it's supposed to go screwy. And I finished the game months ago. Now I'm trying to go further into the plot by getting Charax to stop researching what went wrong.

In short: what triggers Charax to stop researching? How?

      **

He won't stop researching. Basically, the wine mission comes to a complete stand still here. Apparently the purpose of having you attempt to solve the problem with the wine is to get Charax to put both elements in the distiller so that you can use it on the Crolna. The wine contract mission cannot be completed. It didn't make a whole heck of a lot of sense to me either. :)

**I've got some stuff that I don't know what's for either. How can persuasion help you? Give me an example in the game. How can the charm spell help you?
      **

I couldn't get the charm spell to do anything for me at all!!! But I did benefit a little tiny bit from persuasion. There are people who will only talk to you at certain times unless you have persuasion. Certain shopkeepers who normally tell you to go away if it's after hours will open up and sell their goods to you if you have persuasion. Also, Halos will talk to you anytime you encounter him. I don't think it was a particularly useful skill to have, but it saved me a couple of minor annoyances.

      **WRONG!!!!

This is just a really annoying bug. The mission is completed. It just won't say so. The flowers don't matter, they're all the same.
      **

:::shrug::: It worked for me. When I went back to Hector's father he thanked me for putting the flowers on the grave and I got experience. I have heard of missions not being checked off, but not this particular one. It also made a great deal of sense that you would have to use the flowers that were given to you, not just any old ones you find. But this I do not know for sure and I have no desire to test it. :) If you say the mission didn't work for you, how do you know that any flowers would do?

At any rate, the point is that the mission isn't all that important. Nothing earth shaking will be missed if you don't complete it.

**OK, so I'm on that mission where I'm supposed to take the flowers to that guy's mother's grave, right near the beginning of the game... But I forget about the mission, and I see the flowers in my inventory, and, not knowing why they're there, I drop them. Oops. Later, I remember the mission, and go back to where I dropped the flowers, but they're gone. So I take some random flowers that look just like them off of some table in LandKing Hall. I put them on the grave, and go back and talk to the guy, but it still says I haven't completed the mission. Is there any way I can possibly complete it now? If not, what happens when you do complete it? Anything important? Or should I just forget about it?
      **

I think you needed the flowers that were given to you. It's not really an essential mission. You get some experience for it and maybe some good feelings. :)
